![]() TeXworks has reached a level of maturity where it is included in version 2.8 of the MikTeX package for Windows. TeXShop is mac-only but a great Qt/poppler-based clone, TeXworks, is available for Linux, Windows and Mac and supports many of the same features- including TeX hash-bangs and SyncTeX. TeXShop also incorporates SyncTeX technology so a Cmd-Click in the Rnw source will highlight the corresponding output in the PDF window and a Cmd-Click in the PDF window will highlight the corresponding input in the Rnw source. Hitting Cmd-T will typeset the document- the pdf automatically pops up in a separate window. ![]() I can set it to be the default for a document by adding the following TeX hash-bang to the top of the file: % !TEX TS-program = Sweave Sweave is now a selectable method of compiling a document inside TeXShop. For me, a new compilation pipeline is as simple as adding a file, called Sweave.engine to ~/Library/TeXShop/Engines/ which contains the following: #!/usr/bin/env Rscript Both versions are included on Dropbox for your review.I use TeXShop on OS X to produce all of my LaTeX and Sweave reports. The percent character is a comment line in LaTeX so in order to create the handout version I simply commented out the second line instead of the first. For the presenation, I used Beamer but since I was working from the paper, I simply cut and paste sections from the generated tex file to. I also included the generated LaTeX file () as well as the final PDF version. Laslty, I have included a few of my own files on Dropbox for a recent paper and presentation I’ve done. The LaTeX beamer class homepage has several exmaples ( ). The Beamer manual is included on Dropbox or when you download the classes (I do believe Beamer is built into both TeXnicCenter and TeXShop). ) Run Rstudio, and go to Tools > Global Options > Sweave and change 'Weave Rnw files using:' from Sweave to knitr. To create presentations, the Beamer class is what is generally used. Install RStudio ( and then TeXstudio ( Mac users may prefer to also install TeXShop (an alternative to TeXstudio), and maybe LaTeXiT. Once you go through the Sweave manual, I recommend printing page 13 which lists all the options that can be issued to Sweave. This file can then be run through your typical LaTeX processor or editor. This was a request of Paolo Bosetti, who uses TeX and R and Sweave together. Issuing the Sweave(file.choose()) command will first prompt for the file (by convention use Rnw file extension), execute all the R code and generate a tex file. TeXShop adds a menu to the Save Dialog allowing users to set the encoding. In short, simply place the following in your LaTeX file:Ģ + is a Sweave function in R.
